By Deepak Alur, John Crupi, Dan Malks
ISBN: 0-13-142246-4
Prentice Hall  2003 (650 pages)

Expert One-on-One J2EE Design and Development
by Rod Johnson
ISBN:0764543857
Wrox Press #1042;© 2003 (742 pages)

Expert One-on-One J2EE Development without EJB
by Rod Johnson and Juergen Hoeller
ISBN: 0-7645-5831-5

I would also recommend

Head First Design Patterns
By Eric Freeman, Elisabeth Freeman, Kathy Sierra, Bert Bates

ISBN: 0-596-00712-4

O'Reilly 2004

It's not about DAO per se. It's about patterns on which Spring built.
Hey, they start off with a strategy pattern!
Lot's of fun and a very good message.

me too

Since u posted in a Spring forum, I guess u would like to know about implementing a DAO layer using Spring. Have a look at this great tutorial by Mark Fischer on designing a DAO layer using JPA and Spring.

Cheers.
