Beans in spring-ws-servlet not resolving property references

I'm using spring-ws 1.5.5; in my application I have:

- An applicationContext.xml file that defines a PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer bean and gives it the standard id of propertyConfigurer.

- A spring-ws-servlet.xml file to define the beans needed for my web service.

I have a property foo.bar defined in an external properties file which is referenced as a location in my propertyConfigurer.

In both my applicationContext.xml and spring-ws-servlet.xml files I have a reference to ${foo.bar} as a property value in a lt;beangt; definition. This is resolved correctly in applicationContext.xml, but in spring-ws-servlet.xml it is never resolved and I get an error.

I know that spring-ws-servlet.xml can quot;seequot; my beans defined in applicationContext.xml because it successfully references them. But it can't for some reason resolve property names via the propertyConfigurer defined in applicationContext.xml.

Is this a known behaviour?
